- When: 01/25/18
- QIC: Camo
- The PAX: Tater, JR Ewing, Knob Creek, Space Balls, Tesla (2H), KFC, Locksmith
8 PAX posted at #TheKingdom for our last officially-unofficial OTB Thursday WO. There was a high level of curiosity around a brief teaser left on Band the night before. What did going to Vegas mean? Was there gambling involved? Would we be back in time for work? Would our M’s be pissed? Read on…
36 degrees, no wind. The cold WO quota has officially been met for this Winter. Move on.
YHC is not a professional. F3 workouts are voluntary and FREE – you are here voluntarily #YouAgainstYou. Modify as needed. Notify JR Ewing of any serious medical conditions #PushYourselfButDontHurtYourself. Encourage your brothers.
Quick mosey to the SFs, circle up!
- SSH x 25 IC, Accelerating cadence
- Tin Soldiers x 10 IC
- Grass Grabbers x 12 IC
At this point YHC requested the PAX to form a Switzer and produced a deck of cards from his pocket. Eyes widened and pulses quickened…what kind of new devilry was this? Each PAX was dealt a hand, and instructed not to look at his cards. Then YHC explained the WO.
The PAX form up in a circle. One at a time, each man flips a card from the hand he was dealt and holding, then Q’s the exercise for that card and the given quantity indicated on the card. Preference is to Q it IC:
- Diamonds= Merkins
- Clubs=Big Boy Sit Ups
- and Hearts? Well, heart says cardio and nothing says cardio like…Burpees.
Face cards = 11 reps. Aces=1/4 mile Indian Run to the other end of the AO, then the WO resumes. And Jokers? Oh yes, much like the PAX of #TheKingdom there must be a few Jokers. A Joker drawn means the PAX that draws it can call whatever he wants! Risky, yes.
We began our little session right off the bat with a Queen of Hearts. 11 Burpees, aye! We then continued around the circle, encountering a statistically-bewildering number of high Hearts. As the Q rotates, this proved to give the newer guys some excellent practice at calling Next exercise is…Starting positions move…In cadence….Exercise! and counting cadence, of course with a little helpful #MumbleChatter along the way. Add to that, the quantity of the card is only known by the Q! This can mean knocking out 11, or you can fool the PAX and get a roll going only to halt at 3. Good times.
Soon it was time for the first Ace to be drawn by YHC. Fall in single file, Indian Run! Tesla made the mistake of leaving his cards and had to double back. Tater, true to No Man Left Behind, kept him company. Once on the other side of the church the normal rhythm resumed until JR Ewing drew the first Joker and decided some wind sprints were in order. Not too long after, Tesla drew his Joker and thence commenced a series of wind sprints ending with what was every bit of 500 yarder. Space Balls and Locksmith put the work in here. Whew! Turn on the #gassed baby. We’d end up going around the church once more before Knob Creek brought us in with a mosey back to the SFs.
Lots of fun had in #Vegas! The PAX all agreed this one’s a repeat, and also serves as a great mini Q-school. YHC looks forward to bringing it back on a Saturday and making it thru the whole deck. If done right that would mean a cozy set of 85 reps of each exercise, 4 quarter-mile Indian Runs, and whatever other madness the Jokers bring in.
CountORama and NameORama
8 PAX, No FNGs. Welcome back Tesla for the 2H. ABH Katy!
Emotional TAPs shared for the family of Brock, a little boy who passed away recently from cancer. Though we rejoice that he now sits with The Father, we pray for peace and comfort for his family and all of those struggling with his loss. TAPs as well for the family of Space Ball’s current foster child. Prayers for reconciliation.
YHC took us out with thanks for each and every moment we have, and prayers for all above.
This particular WO spun off of one I used to do back in the day with a room mate. Start off with a deck of cards, and alternate Merkins and BBSUs until it’s finished. Decided to dust if off, and add a little F3 flavor to it. Turned out to be a fun one that got the whole PAX actively engaged. Nice work today fellas.
