Don’t Poke the Bear!

15 PAX crawled into the Hogg on a lovely spring morning, hoping to catch a glimpse of our favorite omnivore.  Excitement levels were high for this rare encounter, and mumble chatter drifted on the breeze…

Condition

Nice.  60 degrees, with a fresh breeze.

  • Merkin x 15 IC
  • Lung x15 IC
  • LBC x 20 IC

DAS mosey to Bushwood CC parking lot

The Angry Bear

Line up at one side of lot. PAX hold the angry Al Gore position IC for 20 count (good form required)

PAX Bear crawl to opposite side of lot, then sprint back. Pax hold Al Gore until all PAX return to starting position (with good form)

Repeat 3 times.

10 count and R&R, with increase of angry Al Gore count (25 IC) and increased Bear Crawl distance.

DAS mosey to very dark grassy patch between kickball fields.  Circle up

  • Bobby Hurley x 20 OYO
  • High Knees / Box Jumps x 20 OYO
  • Copperhead Squats x 25 IC
  • Split Lunge x 20 OYO

The Merkin Square Bear

PAX grab a concrete parking barrier. Form up in plank position with hands up on parking barrier at one end. Merkin x 1, then walk in plank position to other end of parking barrier, Merkin x 1, then walk in plank to next parking barrier stopping midway for another merkin. Repeat 3 barriers, then bear crawl to opposite site of lot.  Merkin x 1, then plank walk 3 parking bays with 2 Merkins per bay.  Bear crawl back to starting point.

10 count x 2 then R&R

DAS mosey to front parking lot at St Teresa’s (the long way)

5 x 5 Burpee Dash

PAX line up at one side of parking lot.  Burpee x 1 then sprint to other side of lot.  Burpee x 1 then sprint back to starting point.  Repeat this, adding an extra burpee each rep up to 5 burpees on each side. 

DAS mosey back to flags.  Just enough time for some Mary, and a finish with the Weedwacker sprint.

Not too much to share this morning….  It’s always a challenge to think up new ideas for exercises, but it’s also great fun when you have them, to test them out on the PAX in the gloom.  I appreciate the men of the Hogg for being good sports today as we tested the Angry Bear, and bared down (sorry couldn’t resist) on the second outing for the Merkin Square Bear.  I’d encourage and challenge all PAX to bring new creative ideas to WOs, but at the same time don’t forget the tried and tested – Oldies but goodies….
